About the Author
Hi,
I love to experience life and all things adventure.
One of my passions is scuba diving and I have taken my love of the underwater world and turned it into a career.
I teach both recreational and technical recreational scuba and have had the opportunity to travel the world and dive.
I hope to share some of my thoughts, views and experiences with anyone who wants to listen.
But I don't intend to stop at diving...watch this space....

I have been very lucky to have done a fair amount of diving outside of the UK. Lucky to have done quite a bit in the UK as well.
The dive season in the UK runs from about April to October and as we are now in April I am just waiting for the weather to calm down and the viz to get better (currently like mud out there with about 2 metres max visibility) and will then start to post some reports.
In the meantime I would love to hear about your favourite dives from around the world

I have a dive report for Venice Beach Florida area.
First the water temp is starting its way up, about 71* F. The
visibility was around 20 feet.
As to be expected the larger teeth are getting harder to find.
However, I was blessed with the good fortune of finding one large
tooth with a length of 5 ¼ “. This mega tooth also has full
serration down both sides, and a full point. No chips or breaks,
just a small growth of coral back on the root. If the crew of the
Hammerhead read this, I wish to say thank you again for a wonderful
dive trip! I do plan to return in October for my fifth visit. To all
I wish a safe and wonderful summer, and may it be filled with
memorable bottom time.

Hi Steve,
Dive Report: USS Oriskany
Location: Pensacola, Florida, USA
There are many reports about doing this dive stateside. Has to be said it should be on a must-do dive list. Not so much due to it’s size and/or nature but more because it was the first of many modern day natural reefs to be created. The effect that this vessel has had upon both the economy and marine world offshore of Pensacola is substantial.
It’s quite a ride out to the Oriskany but well worth it. Certified Advanced Divers will find it a great dive. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone newly certified as the weather conditions can be challenging both on and off the boat. Attractions in the water can be reached at about 30ft and most of the time Vis is great.

Got another one for you….
Location: Belize, CA
Site: Ambergris Caye
Flight time: About 14hrs from the UK. 2hrs from Houston, TX
Situated about 20min(light aircraft) away from main Belize.
Ambergris Caye is a small island which is only about 2.5 miles in length and has just three streets in it’s breadth..(Front /Middle and Back Street). Belize is growing as a destination and is fast becoming the new Costa Rica and being renowned for it’s Tax shelter investments. Can’t be bad as Leonardo Di Caprio has bought a small Island nearby.
Moving on the diving. I went in October 2007. The welcome was fantastic. The diving was simply an experience. Visibility was fantastic….seeing on average 100ft. Water was so warm a shorty was just fine. Along the Coast it is possible to run out of dive sites there are so many to choose from….with such names as Turneffe Atoll to Shark Alley to Mermaid’s Lair….all have an array of Marine Life and something different to sample. If you do go, try July to October I think for a chance to see Whale Sharks.
I would advise before going that you do some investigation in who to dive with. The group I went with used “Aquadives” and although we’d read some interesting reports about them just shortly before leaving we found them to be more than excellent. The Captain was great in boat handling and had some tricky weather (6-8ft swells -aftermath of a Hurricane off the US shores) to navigate on two of the days and in terms of being looked after, service was second to none. “Ecologic” was an operator nearby that looked like they had a good/sound operation nearby as well……
Wining and Dining - plenty of selection and plenty of choice. My advise is to start at one end and work your way around. A must though is “Elvi’s” and the Key Lime pie is to do die for.
One last tip - if your travelling from the UK, the British Pound is currently 4:1, though most of the time US Dollars are used as common currency.
